CHASING THOSE WINTER BUGS Though we are through January, it is still really dark and miserable and there is a feeling that spring is not quite here and it wont be for a while yet. Being up here in the North of Scotland, I have certainly experienced the depths of the season. Colds and flu seem to have been endemic and assorted tummy bugs and viral complaints always seem to be doing the rounds. Homeopathy can, of course, help but another fabulous thing I have found and we use a lot here is Citricidal grapefruit seed extract ; . Its taste will have you pulling faces but whisked up with a fork in orange or grapefruit juice or drops put in peppermint tea can rapidly chase away colds and flu symptoms. It is a good idea to take say eight drops of Citricidal at the first hint of a cold and it will help and keep up the dose several times a day until you feel better. Echinacea taken at this stage is not such a good idea as it can in fact make symptoms worse but good old vitamin C is a great standby and you can take six or seven grammes of this to help chase away colds and fluey lurgies. Vitamin C is necessary for skin to recover and repair itself and is rapidly depleted by stress. So often at this time of year it can be a good idea to up the dose whether with supplements or extra green leafy vegetables and citrus fruits.
